(L) Visa

"L" Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China for sightseeing or visiting family members or friends.

Requirements:


  1. Filled form Visa Application Form (2013)
  2. 1 Photo(2x2) .
  3. Actual passport (At least six(6) months of remaining validity with at least 2 blank pages in it.
  4. Hotel comfirmation and Flight Itinerary.
  • US citizens may apply for a Single Entry (valid for 3-6 months), Double Entry (valid for 6 months), Multiple Entry (valid for 6 months or 12 months) "L" Visa.
  • A Chinese-American may apply for a Multiple Entry "L" Visa valid for 24 months.
  • For American born Chinese please refer to American-born children of Chinese descent to visit China Visa Requirements section below.

How to apply:

You may submit the document in person or mail it to 2473 S. Archer Ave. 1FL, Chicago IL 60616 with the PAID self address return envelope.

The visa application form shall be filled out completely, correctly and legibly, otherwise this can cause a delay in processing or the refusal of the requested visa.

The regular processing time is 4 working days. For express service, additional fees of $30 for 1 working day processing (applications presented before 11:00am may be picked up between 2:30pm - 3:00pm on the same day), $20 for 2-3 working days processing will be charged.

Visa Validity and Duration of Stay
Usually the validity of a Single Entry or Double Entry "L" visa is 90 days or 180 days from the date of issue. This means the holder of the visa shall enter China no later than 90 days or 180 days from the date of issue, otherwise the visa is expired and is null and void. The duration of stay of a "L" visa is 30 days, which means the holder of the visa may stay in China for up to 30 days from the date of entry. The visa officer may extend the Duration of Stay if the applicant needs and requests a stay in China for more than 30 days.

Additional information
 Any person suffering from a mental disorder, leprosy, AIDS, venereal diseases, contagious tuberculosis or other such infectious diseases shall not be permitted to enter China.

American-born children of Chinese descent to visit China Visa Requirements:

  1. All born in the U.S., and the children of Chinese descent, as it has joined one or both parents U.S. citizenship (U.S. passport holders) or have obtained a green card, the child should apply for a visa to China.


    2. For the first time apply for a visa to visit China, please provide:

    1. Children passport (valid for 6 months or more, the original passport blank visa page);
    2. The child's parents or either of the foreign passport and the original copy of a U.S. green card (copy pages with photographs);
    3. Children 's original birth certificate and one photocopy;
    4. Visa Application Form A, together with a 2X2-inch color photograph pasted on the application form.


    The other: has applied for a visa to visit China for the children (passports with Chinese visas), such as re-apply, no need to provide birth certificates of children, parents, passport, green card and other information.

  2. the American-born children, as they are Chinese citizens and both parents were obtained U.S. green card, the child will go to China should apply for a Chinese travel permit (valid for 2 years).

Two-year multuple entry requirements:

  1. Chinese-born and only lived in Chicago belongs to the Chinese consulate in nine states and the Chinese-American and their children living   in Chicago Chinese Consulate-owned seven states are eligible to apply for multiple entry visa for two years. (Belongs to the nine states include: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado.)

  2. Chinese-American children to apply for multiple entry visa for two years in addition to the normal application of information please add the following information:
    1. copy of Birth Certificate
    2. copies of passports of both parents
    3. Effective legal residence of both parents (if any)
